At number 11 buoy at Bombay. Wind NE force 2 with broken cloud. Barometer 30.12 inches rising to 30.16 at 0800 before falling to 30.06 at 1600 and finishing at midnight at 30.10 inches. Temperature at noon. 82F. Draught of water forward 13 feet 4 inches. Aft 15 feet 5 inches. 0200. Lit fires and raised steam in two boilers. 0600. Received 123 lbs of fresh beef and 59 lbs of vegetables plus 242 lbs of bread. 0700. Steam up in cutter. 0830. Slipped from buoy and proceeded out of harbour at 75 revolutions – 4 knots. Course as requisite. 1045. Stopped and launched target. Firing Quick fire guns at target. Steaming and steering as requisite. Noon. Off Bombay harbour. 1330. Firing Quick fire guns and machine guns at target.. 1525. Stopped and came to with stream anchors in 16 ½ fathoms and veered to 5 shackles. Banked fires. Firing common tube at target. 1800. Distilling with one boiler. Lost overboard by accident – one hand line of 10 fathoms and one hand line lead. Draught of water forward 12 feet 9 inches. Aft 15 feet 3 inches.
