At number 5 buoy in Bombay Harbour. Wind calm with a blue sky. Barometer 30.06 inches rising to 30.10 at 0800 before falling to 30.00 at 1600 and finishing at midnight at 30.06 inches. Temperature at noon 79F. 0400. Steam up in cutter. 0500. Received 120 lbs of fresh beef and 48 lbs of vegetables plus 234 lbs of bread. 0730. Took the Guard.  0930. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers. Exercised at General Quarters. Manned and armed ship and passed up shell.  Exercised Watch close watertight doors. 1130. Employed variously. Noon. Wind NNW force 1 with broken cloud. 1300. Mustered by the Open List and paid monthly money to Ship’s company. Employed cleaning and as requisite. 1430. Let fires die out. 1715. Mustered at Quarters. Washed clothes. Coal expended 1 ton 18 cwt. Number on sick list 19.
