Barometer 29.78 inches rising to 29.86 at 0800 and to 29.92 at noon before falling to 29.80 at 1600 and rising to 29.81 at 2000 and then finishing at 29.83 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 91F. Received 124 lbs of meat and 62 lbs of vegetables plus 198 lbs of bread. 0530. Prepared for battle.  0630. Replaced gear. Landed Roman Catholics to attend the Requiem Mass for President Carnot – late President of the French Republic.  Half-masted colours. Employed cleaning ship. Noon. Wind SW force 3 with broken cloud. Lost overboard by accident one helmet. 1400. Weighed and proceeded as requisite firing 3 pounder Quick fire at Round island.

  1. Wind SW force 2 to 3 with broken cloud. 6 inch gun crews firing aiming tube. Proceeded into harbour. 1700. Stopped and came to in four fathoms and veered to 2 ½ shackles. Secured stern to N0 2 buoy. Coal expended 4 tons 3 cwt. Number on sick list 14.
