At sea Bushehr to Kuwait. Course N85W at 8.3 knots. Wind SSW force 1 to 2 with blue sky and smooth sea. Barometer 29.90 inches rising to 29.95 at 0800 and to 29.96 at noon before falling to 29.89 at 1600 and to 29.88 at 2000 and finishing at 29.96 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 84F. 0200. Eased to 64 revolutions. Exercised Close watertight doors. 0655. Sighted Kubbar Island.

Kubbar Island is a sandy island of Kuwait in the Persian Gulf, covered with shrub. It is located roughly 30 kilometers off the southern coast of Kuwait and 29 kilometres off the coast of Failaka. The island is nearly circular, with a diameter of 370 to 380 meters, corresponding to an area of about 11 ha. Wikipedia

Stopped and came to in 10 ½ fathoms off Kuwait and veered to 5 shackles. (Unable to read handwriting of anchor bearings) Ordinary Seamen and Boys at seamanship. Training class at instruction. Remainder as requisite. 1600. SSE force 1 with broken cloud. Issued soap and tobacco. 1700 Quarters. 2000. Wind North by E force 5.  Port watch – Man and arm ship. Coal expended 11 tons 10 cwt.
