0001 Course West Wind  SE force 2 to 3. Shortened sails to Topsails.

0310 braced sharp up.

0530 Saw land of Zanzibar Island on Starboard bow. Shortened and furled sails. Pointed yards to wind.

0600. Proceed under steam.  Employed cleaning ship throughout.

1000. Set Jib, Fore top staysail and forward Trysail. Squared yards.

1300 course north .

1320. In fore and aft sails.

1445 Passed Chomby Island.

1540 Anchored off Magazine to south of town in 11 fathoms with sandy bottom – veered to 30 fathoms. Loosed sails.  Anchorage bearings Chomby Island S by W ½ W. Banry island NW.

1655. Mustered by Divisions. Furled sails. Condensing.
