At anchor in Chaki Chaki Bay. Wind south 3 to 4 and overcast. Barometer 30.25 inches rising to 30.30 at noon before falling to 30.25 inches at 2000 and finishing at 30.30 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 79F. 0530. Daylight- observed HMS Reindeer at anchor off Mesali Island. 0730. Weighed and proceeded to communicate. 0830. Stopped and came to ahead of REINDEER. Took Reindeer in tow.  0930. Weighed and proceeded as requisite. REINDEER with dhow in tow. Employed cleaning ship throughout 1100. Shaped to SW ½ S. Noon. Altered course to SW by S. Steaming at 85 revolutions.  Observed HMS Mariner to north. Position at noon 5.25S 39.29E. 1210. Dhow foundered REINDEER sent boat to pick crew. 1245. Proceeded SW by S ½ S. Employed cleaning ship. 1420. Observed Zanzibar Island ahead. 1700. Stopped off T Island (Handwriting unreadable) and cast off REINDEER which proceeded to the south. Proceeded as requisite for anchorage. 1800. Stopped and came to under Ras Nungwe with sandy bottom in 14 fathoms and veered to 7 shackles. Wind SW force 2 with slight swell. Banked fires. Anchorage bearings M.M. Lighthouse S77W P??? Island S 10W. 2000. Exercised electric search lights.2215. Exercised at General Quarters. 2340. French sloop Bouret arrived. Coal expended 15 tons 1 cwt. Number on sick list 16.
