Wind Southerly force 2 increasing to 4 later.  Barometer rising from 30.17 inches to 30.22 inches.

0800. Dressed ship in honour of the Anniversary of the Coronation HM Queen Victoria. In boom boats.

0900. Prayers. Exercised at General Quarters. Sailmakers repairing main topgallant Try sail.. Sultan’s Prime Ministers visited. Saluted them on leaving with 16 guns. Flagship returned the salute.

Noon. Fired a Royal salute which was returned by the flagship.

1215. Up steam in one boiler.

1415. Weighed and proceeded under steam. Undressed ship. Sailmakers repairing Main top gallant sail.

1645 Quarters.

1655 Came to off Choomby island in 15 fathoms with broken bottom. Veered to 3 shackles. Anchor bearing – North end of Choomby –  East and west end of Bany  N 1/2W. Sent cutter to communicate with Mozambique.

1940. Cutter returned.
