Cloudy with slight SW swell. Barometer 29.66 inches falling to 29.65 at 1600 before rising to 29.67 inches at 2000 were it finished at midnight. Temperature at noon 86F. 0900. Divisions. 0930. Divine Service. Noon. Position 23.51.30N 59.10E. Muskat (Muscat) S66W. Wind SE force 1 to 2 with broken cloud.  Altered course to S55W. 1500. Connected up steam steering gear.1530. Hauled in patent log. 1600. Stopped. Let go port anchor in 7 fathoms of Muskat (Muscat).1605. Weighed and slipped berth. 1610. Stopped. Came to with port anchor in 6 ½ fathoms. 1620. Let go starboard anchor in 7 fathoms. 1630. Made fast ashore with 4 ½ inch wire. Anchor bearings (Unable to read subject of bearings but believe both to be forts) S22E / S68W. Discharged and released prisoners to HMS Sphinx. Coal expended 22 tons. Number on sick list Nil.
