Temperature at noon 84F. 0500. Sent steam cutter and gig to cruise in entrance. 0630. Weighed and proceeded out of harbour. 0730 40 revolutions – 3 knots. 0800. Course ENE. Wind west force 1 with broken cloud. 0915 Mustered by Divisions. Read prayers. Loosed fore and aft sails. Marines at gun drill. Employed as requisite. Noon altered course to NE t 4.2 knots. Wind ENE force 1. 1215 observed a steamer passing to starboard. 1300 Altered course to north. Employed as requisite 1600. Altered course to NNW. 1645 Observed HMS Algerine on starboard bow. 1715. Mustered at Quarters. 1800. Stopped and came to under Ras Gomany with sandy bottom in 4 ¼ fathoms. Veered to 2 shackles. At single anchor. Banked fires. 1820. Alongside HMS Algerine. 2000.
