Received 160 lbs of fresh beef and 80 lbs of vegetables. Draught of water forward 12 feet 0 inches. Aft 15 feet 10 inches. 0600. Scrubbed and washed clothes. 0900. Weighed and proceeded out of harbour. 0930. 85 revolutions. 0945 Shaped o SW ¾ S. 1000. Exercised at General Quarters. Altered course to SSW at 2.2 knots. 1100. Course as requisite. Stopped and examined dhow.1130. Shaped to SW by W. Noon altered course to SW ½ W. Position at noon 2.38S 40.45E. PM employed as requisite. Ordinary Seamen and Boys at seamanship instruction. 1600. Wind southerly force 4 to 5 with moderate sea swell and broken cloud. 1630. Altered course to SW at 4.5 knots. 1715. Mustered at quarters. 1805. Stopped and came to in Port Melinda with sandy bottom in 6 ½ fathoms and veered to 3 shackles. Banked fires. Anchorage bearings Flag staff S48W Vasco de Gamas Pillar S13W magnetic. Coal expended 11 tons 10 cwt. Number on sick list 10.
