Moored in Aden inner harbour.  Wind SE force 1 becoming southerly force 3 before becoming easterly force 1. Broken cloud. Barometer 29.97 inches rising to 29.99 at noon and finishing at 29.92 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 88F.  Received 122 lbs of fresh beef and 60 lbs of vegetables plus 102 lbs of bread. Shifted berth to number 4 buoy. Laid out stream anchor on port side and warped ship. Employed as requisite for manoeuvre. Secured stern to number 4 buoy. 0830.  Came to with one shackle.  Employed as requisite. 1600. Quarters. Special leave to starboard watch. HMS Royal Arthur arrived. 1655. Royal Arthur sailed. Coal expended 5 cwt. Number on sick list 2.

 

HMS Royal Arthur was a first class cruiser of the Edgar class, previously named Centaur, but renamed in 1890 prior to launching. She served on the Australia Station and briefly on the North America and West Indies Station before returning to the Home Fleet in 1906. She was paid off after the First World War.
