Barometer 30.05 inches falling to 29.99 at 0800 then rising to 30.10 at noon before falling to 30.00 at 1600 and finishing at 30.01 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon. 84F. 0400. Steam up in cutter. 0530. Received 112lbs of fresh beef and 56 lbs of vegetables. 0600. Let fires die out.   0915. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers. 1000. Employed painting ship and as requisite. Noon. Wind NNE force 1 with broken cloud. 1340. German cruiser Spuber arrived. 1400. Painting ship and as requisite. 1700. Issued slops to Ship’s Company. Lost overboard by accident – 1 x stave, 1 x iron boat hook, 1 x stave flag. Lt G.F. Glennie later decided the lost was due to neglect and Able seamen Tomas Rendall and Humann Guafe were charged against their wages. Coal expended 19 cwt. Number on sick list 13.
