At single anchor off Muscat.  Wind SE force 1 with broken cloud. Barometer 30.15 inches falling to 30.12 at 0800 and to 30.10 at 1600 and then rising to 30.13 at 2000 before finishing at 20.10 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 77F.  0200. Received 140 lbs of beef and 70 lbs of vegetables plus 250 lbs of bread. 0930. Divisions and prayers. Exercised General Quarters. 1100. HMS Pigeon sailed. Marines at small arms drill. Noon. Wind SE force 1. 1530. Five ratings returned from hospital. 1630. Quarters. Inspected arms.  2000. Wind N by W force 3. Thunder, lightning rain and squalls. Veered to 5 ¼ shackles. Lost overboard one 15 foot ash oar. Midnight. Wind NW force 1. Coal expended 8 cwt. Number on sick list 12.
