At anchor in Kilifi Harbour. Wind south force 1 with broken cloud. Barometer 30.28 inches remaining steady until midnight. Temperature at noon 80F. Draught of water forward 12 feet 4 inches. Aft 15 feet 6 inches. 0120. Lit fires in two boilers. 0400. Washed clothes. Steam up in cutter. 0730. Weighed and proceeded out of harbour. 0815. Squalls. Observed HMS Turquoise to starboard. 0920. Stopped and communicated with TURQUOISE. 1000. Proceed for Kilifi. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers.. 1110. Stopped and came to in Kilifi Harbour in 12 ½ fathoms and veered to 2 ½ shackles. Banked fires. Noon. Wind SSE force 2 with broken cloud.  Anchorage bearings Bluff 120 feet. S51W. Southern point of entrance S28E magnetic. 1300. Divers down and boats searching for torpedoes. Employed as requisite. 1715. Mustered at Quarters. Coal expended 5 tons 7 cwt. Numbers on sick list 7.
