Exercised General Quarters; fire and collision stations in action. Carried out Morris tube practice. 1140. Sighted land on port bow. Noon. Position 43.21N 9.28W. Course S1W at 10.5 knots. Increased to 96 revolutions. 1300. Carrying out Morris tube practice. Marines at musketry. 1345. Altered course to S23 ½ W. 1415. Altered course to S2W. 1527. Altered course to S9 ½ E.
