At single anchor in Aden Harbour.  Wind ESE force 1 becoming SW 3 to 4 before reducing to force 1 from the south.  Barometer 30.00 inches rising to 30.05 before falling to 29.92 and finishing at 29.94 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 85F. Received 118 lbs of fresh beef and 59 lbs of vegetables. Draught 14 feet 6 inches forward and 16 feet 2 inches aft. 0630. Weighed and proceeded out of harbour. Very heavy rain squalls passing over ship.  0730. Came to on broken bottom in 7 fathoms in outer harbour and veered to 3 shackles. 0930. Weighed and proceeded as necessary for running whitehead torpedoes. . Exercised General quarters. 1150. Finished running. Made 6 runs. Proceeded as necessary. 1430 Dropped target. Commenced tube common practice. 1530 Finished. Recovered target. Proceeded into outer harbour. Made two harbour torpedo runs. Proceeded as necessary into inner harbour. 1800. Came to in 5 fathoms and veered to 5 shackles. Secured stern to number 2 Buoy Midnight. Let fires die out. Coal expended11 tons 4 cwt. Number on sick list 2.
