Kilifi to Zanzibar. Course SW by S at 6.8 knots. Wind SW force 3. Overcast, squally with passing showers. Barometer 30.22 inches rising to 30.22 at noon before falling to 30.22 at 16oo and finishing at 30.24 at midnight. Temperature at noon 78F. 0130. Lit fires and raised steam in 4th boiler.  0530. Connected 4th boiler and proceeded full ahead. – 11 knots. Land on port bow. 0745. Altered course to SSW. 0930. Mustered by Divisions and performed Divine Service. 1030. Altered course to SW by S. Lost overboard by accident one ships log. Position at noon 5.21S 39.27E with force 3 to 5 wind and squally rain. 1320 Observed Zanzibar Island on port bow. 1350 Land obscured by rain squalls. Eased to slow. 1400. Proceeded full speed. Steering as requisite along the land. 1645. Stopped and came to in Zanzibar Harbour with broken bottom in 11 fathoms and veers to2 ½ shackles. Anchorage bearings – Ras Shangani. S4E Clock Tower S67E magnetic. Draught forward 11 feet 11 inches. Aft 14 feet 10 inches1715. Mustered at Quarters. Let fires die out. Found here HMS Agamemnon. Coal expended 23 tons 15 cwt.  Number on sick list 6.
