At sea. Zanzibar to Mozambique. Course S ¼ E at 5.5 knots. Wind SE force 1 with broken cloud. Barometer 30.08 inches rising to 30.13 at 0800 before falling to 30.06 at 1600 and finishing at 30.09 at midnight. Temperature at noon 82F.  0400. Altered course to S by W. 0500. Altered course to WSW. 0510. Observed land on starboard bow. 0700. Observed St George’s Island Light to WSW. 0730. Altered course to NNE. 0900. Wind north force 1. Proceeded for harbour. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers. 100. Stopped and took on pilot. 1030. Came to in Mozambique harbour. Moored ship with 2 shackles on each cable. Let fires die out. Draught of water forward 13 feet 5 inches. Aft 15 feet 5 inches. Anchorage bearings. Fort flagstaff S18E. Pier head S61W. Portuguese gun vessels Tarrago (?) and Xaise (?).  PM. Employed as requisite. Ordinary seamen of watch at seamanship instruction.1715. Mustered at Quarters. Coal expended 7 tons 18 cwt. Number on sick list 8.
