Barometer 29.98 inches rising to 30.05 at 0800 before falling to 30.03 at noon and lower still to 29.98 at 1600 before finishing at 29.97 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon. 73F. 0200. Exercised sea boats crews. Exercised close watertight doors.  0620. Observed HMS pigeon bearing NE.  0800. Exercised Fire Quarters.  0900. Course and speed as requisite for anchorage. 0945. Came to in broken bottom in 4 ½ fathoms and veered to 2 shackles.  Persian Man of War PERSEPOLIS and HMS Pigeon at anchor in Galag.  Anchorage bearing. Bir Tiosion (?) peaks N70E. Makki S81E. Blackbush N18W.  Cleaning ship. 1300. Banked fires.  1400. Cleaning ship. 1600. Spread fires in number 1 boiler. 2000. Distilling. 2300. Prepared for landing small arms party. Coal expended 11 tons 11 cwt. Number on sick list 4.
