At sea Jashak to Muskat. (Muscat) Course S19E at 7 knots. Wind ESE force 1 to 2 with broken cloud. Barometer 30.12 inches rising to 30.17 at 0800 and to 30.20 at noon and then falling to 30.13 at 1600 and then rising to 30.21 at 2000 before finishing at 30.20 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 72 F.  0800. Wind SE force 1 to 2 with broken cloud. Exercised at General Quarters firing shot and shell at target. 1050. Proceeded for Muskat. 1140. Stopped and came to with pebble bottom in 7 ½ fathoms. Fired salute or 21 guns.  Shore replied with 21 guns. Anchor bearing taken from stern head.  South anchor buoy alongside stern. Sultan Flag staff 43 ½ – 100 feet. At 116 1/2 Ras Maskat 74 ½.  Ras Kathu 125 to Sultans Flag Staff.  Noon. Wind SE force 1 to 2 with broken cloud. Draught 11 feet 8 inches forward. Aft 15 feet 1 inch. 1400.  Employed as requisite. 1700. Quarters. Coal expended 8 tons 8 cwt. Number on sick list 22.
