Barometer 29.84 inches rising to 29.98 at 0800 before falling to 29.93 at 1600 and finishing at 30.01 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 85F. 0120. Drew fires in cutter. 0500. Received 114 lbs of fresh beef and 57 lbs of vegetables plus220 lbs of bread. .0530. Lowered all boats and moored them. 0630. Weighed and proceeded as requisite. 0730. Carried out prize firing procedure 6 inch breech loading.  0900. Exercised General Quarters. 100. Finished firing. Unmoored target. Took target in the lifeboats. Proceeded as requisite to Trincomalee Harbour. 100. Lost one lead and 12 fathoms of line by accident. . Noon. Wind SW force 2 with broken cloud.  1400.
