Secured to buoy in Bombay Harbour. Wind NNE force 2 with broken cloud. Barometer 29.98 inches falling to 29.86 at 1600 and finishing at 29.92 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 84F. 0215. Lit fires and raised steam in 3 boilers. 0600. Watered ship. 0630. Received 112 lbs of fresh beef and 56 lbs of vegetables. 0730. Took the Guard. Draught of water forward 14 feet 9 inches. Aft 15 feet 10 inches. 0915. Slipped from buoy and proceeded out of harbour using port engines. 1030. Outer Light Verial Ab—-(?) Shaped to W ¼ N at 3.5 knots. Noon Wind NW force 2. Position 18.50N 92.35E. 1400. Employed as requisite.  1715. Mustered at Quarters. Exercised at Fire Quarters and “Out collision mat”. 1800. Proceeded with both engines at 7.6 knots increasing to 9.2 knots.  Coal expended 14 tons 10 cwt. Number on sick list 15.
