Watch at field gun drills. 1040. Observed land on starboard beam. Altered course to S ¼ E. Noon position 10.45S 40.54E. 1245. Observed land on starboard beam. 1300. Observed a water spout on port quarter. 1400. Altered course to S by W. 1400. Employed as requisite.  1715. Mustered by Quarters.  1815. Observed land on starboard beam altered course to S ½ W. 2000. Altered course to S ¼ E at 11 knots. Coal expended 25 tons. Number on sick list 10.
