Temperature at noon 84F. 0600. Weighed and proceeded at 90 revolutions 06.30. Increased to 100 revolutions. 0800. Shaped to SE by S ¼ S at 10.8 knots. 0855. Observed HMS Turquoise off south end of Zanzibar. 0915. Mustered at Divisions and read prayers. Watch at field gun drill. Noon. Position 7.1S 39.49E. Wind SE force 1. PM employed as requisite. 1600. Altered course to S ¼ E at 11.2 knots. 1715. Mustered at Quarter. Washed clothes. Coal expended 28 tons 4 cwt. Number on sick list 10.
