At anchor in Kilifi Harbour. Wind WSW force 1 with broken cloud. Barometer 30.19 inches rising to 30.25  at noon before falling to 30.18 at 2000 and finishing at midnight at 30.20 inches. Temperature at noon 81F. 0430. Washed clothes. 0700. Steam up in cutter. 0915. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers. Exercised at General Quarters – Out collision mat stations throughout ship. Employed as requisite. 1140. Weighed and proceeded out of harbour. Noon. Wind SSE force 2. 1215. HMS Griffin to starboard. 1250. Stopped and communicated with her by boat. Employed as requisite.  1600. Wind south force 3.1700. Reduced to 55 revolutions – 5 knots. 1715. Mustered a Quarters. 1900. Exercised electric search light. Coal expended 8 tons 13 cwt. Number on sick list 7.
