At anchor in Kilifi harbour. Wind WSWS force 3. Cloudy with squally passing showers. Barometer 30.20 inches rising to 30.23 at noon before falling to 30.16 at 1600 and finishing at 30.19 at midnight. Temperature at noon 80F. Draught of water forward 13 feet. Aft 15 feet 10 inches. 0600. Steam up in cutter. 0730. Weighed and proceeded out of harbour at 75 revolutions 0900 Observed HMS Turquoise to starboard.  0930. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers. 10. Stopped and communicated with TORQUOISE. Small arms men at rifle drill. 10 20 Proceeded for Kilifi harbour. Stopped and came to in Kilifi Harbour in 7 fathoms and veered to 2 ½ shackles. Banked fires. Anchorage bearings Bluff 120 feet. S43W Bushy Inlet East magnetic. 1300. Received149 lbs of fresh beef and no vegetables. 1410 Manned and armed boats and exercised them under sail. 1500. Employed as requisite. 1715. Mustered at Quarters. Lost overboard by accident one boarding pike. Coal expended 7 tons 19 cwt. Number on sick list 7.
