At anchor off Melinda. Wind S by W force 3 with broken cloud. Barometer 30.12 inches rising to 30.20 at noon before falling to 30.12 inches at 1600 and finishing at  30.14 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 78F. 0530. Weighed. 0540. Proceeded out of anchorage. 0600 Shaped to NE by E ½ E at 7.5 knots. 0900. Altered course to NE ¼ E. Wind SSE force 3 with a slight swell. 0930. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers. Small arms men at drill. 1000. Observed land on port bow. Employed as requisite. Noon Altered course to north at 7.8 knots. Wind Se force 2. Position at noon 2.35S 40.55 E.  1430. Stopped and came to in Lamus harbour with broken bottom in 6 fathoms. Let go stock anchor and moored with 3 shackles on both cables. Put on mooring swivel. Position when moored Minaret Shella N10W Pillar S85W magnetic.  1600. Distilling. Let fires die out in one boiler. 1715. Mustered at Quarters. Coal expended 11 tons 7 cwt. Number on sick list 9.
