Remarks

We had fine weather and strong SW wind causing heavy sea. Sea breeze setting in during the afternoon. We had a strong northerly current for the first two days. On the morning of the 19^th we were about abreast of Palk Straits the wind blew very strong from the SW with a heavy sea; the ship in consequence making less than 3 knots an hour.

1944-1960

During Warship Week in February 1942, the town of Esher raised £1,192,211, contributing to the construction of the warship HMS Cossack. The funds were collected by the public depositing money into a rubber-type float in a pool. Remarkably, the surplus was enough to fund a submarine as well. The story continues.
