Barometer 30.08 inches rising to 30.15 at noon before falling to 30.10 at 1600 before finishing at 30.14 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 76F. 0500. Observed land on starboard bows and beam. 0530. Altered course to NW by N ½ N. Increased to 80 revolutions. 0630. Altered course to north at 4.2 knots. 0700 Altered course to NE 3/4N. 0725. Eased to 40 revolutions. 0800. Wind SW force 2. 0845. Altered course to NE by N ½ N.  0930. Mustered by the Open List. Performed Divine Service. 1000. Altered course to SW by S ½ N at 3.8 knots. Noon position 4.18 S 39.48 N. Wind SW force 2 with squalls. 1300. Observed HMS Boadicea off Mombasa. 1330. Stopped and communicated with HMS Boadicea.1430. Proceeded for Mombasa Harbour.  1520. Came to in 14 fathoms with broken bottom and veered to 3 shackles. Banked fires. 1715. Mustered at Quarters. Received supplies from British Indian steamer Bagdad. Mr Malcolm Murdock – Paymaster – joined. Anchorage bearings Fort S53W Unicorn House N6W magnetic. 2000. Received 120 lbs of fresh beef and 60 lbs of vegetables. Midnight, Lit fires and raised steam in three boilers. Coal expended 8 tons 3 cwt. Number on sick list 1.
