Lamus to Kilifi. 0100. Course SW ¼ S at 6 knots. Wind SSW force 2 with broken cloud. Barometer 29.76 rising to 29.84 at noon before falling to 29.70 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 86F. 0630. Altered course to WSW and increased to 65 revolutions – 5 knots. Washed clothes. 0925. Increased to 75 revolutions – 7 knots. 0930. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers. 1000 altered course to SW by W. Employed as requisite. Party firing (round?) tube. Noon Wind SW force 3. Position at noon 3.31S 40.3E. Kilifi Pillar S53W 15 miles. 1300 Altered course to SW by S. 1320 Observed HMS Mariner on port bows. Employed as in Forenoon.  HMS Mariner proceeded into Kilifi. 1415. Stopped and came to in Kilifi harbour with sandy bottom in 7 fathoms. Veered to 2 shackles. Banked fires. 1600. Received 216 lbs of fresh beef. Ordinary Seamen of watch at seamanship instruction. 1700. Mustered at Quarters. HMS Mariner sailed. Lost overboard by accident one lead and 15 fathoms of line. Bearing at anchorage bluff 120 feet S14W Bushy inlet S79E magnetic.
