0600 Weighed and proceeded out of harbour steaming as requisite at 3 to 4 knots. 0730. Stopped and examined dhow. 0800. Wind SW force 2 with broken cloud. 0915. Mustered by divisions and said prayers. 0930 Stopped and examined Dhow. 1st and 3rd guns crews at drill. Employed as requisite. Position at noon 3.27S 40.12E. 1310 mustered by the Open List. Paid monthly money to Ship’s Company. 1415. Stopped and examined dhow. Employed as requisite. 1645. Proceeded in by Taka?????? Pass. 1715 Mustered at Quarters. 1745. Stopped and came to in Kilifi Harbour with sandy bottom in 8 fathoms. Veered to 2 shackles. Banked fires. Steam cutter and gig returned. Bearing in anchorage. Bluff 120 feet S45W. Bushy inlet S85E magnetic. Wind ESE force 2. Broken cloud and lightening. Coal expended 9 tons 6cwt. Number on sick list 12.
