Moored to buoy at Bombay.  Wind calm with broken cloud. Barometer 30.12 inches rising to 20.19 at 0800 and to 30.22 at noon and then 30.23 at 1600 before falling to 30.22 at 2000 and finishing at 30.23 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 78F.

  1. Received 170 lbs of beef and 70 lbs of vegetables plus 260 lbs of bread. 0530. Landed Marines for drill. 0600. Liberty men returned. 0800. Wind NE force 1. 0915. Divisions and prayers. Inspected arms. Ordinary Seamen and boys at seamanship. Remainder as requisite. 1030.  Watch at cutlass drill.  Noon. Wind calm. 1300. Port battery at drill. Ordinary Seamen and Boys at seamanship. Sent two signalmen to Flagship.  Remainder employed as requisite. 1600. Wind northerly force 1.  1630. Quarters. 1700. Special leave to watch.  1720. Exercised – out fire engine for fire action.  2130.  Port watch – Man and arm ship.  Coal expended 5 cwt.  Number on sick list 5.
