At sea. Muscat to Jask.  Course N19W at 7.5 knots.  Smooth sea. Wind NW force 1 with blue sky. Barometer 30.18 inches rising to 30.19 at 0800 and then falling to 20.17 at noon before rising to 30.19 at 2000 and finishing at 30.15 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 73F.   0800. Cleaning ship. 0800. Wind calm with broken cloud. 0900. Course as requisite for harbour. 0930. Divisions and prayers. Lit fires in steam cutter. 1015. Stopped and came to port anchor in 5 fathoms and veered to 3 shackles. Anchor bearing Telegraph House S31E. Coniferous trees S82E. Noon. Wind calm. Draught forward 14 feet 3 inches. Aft. 15 feet 6 inches. 1700. Quarters.  Coal expended 17 tons 4 cwt.  Number on sick list 11.
