28 August 1900. Moored at Muscat. Wind calm with blue sky. Barometer 29.80 inches rising to 29.83 at 0800 before falling to 29.78 inches at noon where it remained until midnight. Temperature at noon 85F.  0200. Received 140 lbs of beef and 40 lbs of vegetables plus 240 lbs of bread. 0530. Man and arm boats. 0915. Exercised landing parties at small arms drill. 1015. Employed as requisite. Noon. Wind NW force 1. Training class and Captain of Guns at 6 inch drill. Make and mend clothes. 1600. Weighed starboard anchor. 1800. Broken by accident two x metal boat hooks. Coal expended 4 cwt. Number on sick list 8.
