Barometer 30.05 at 0400 rising to 30.09  at 0800 before rising further to 30.12 inches at 1600 and where it finished at midnight.  Temperature at noon 69 F.0230. Observed Beach Head light N50E. 0305. Beach Head Light abeam at 6 miles. Exercised watch closing watertight doors and sea boats crews.  0330. Observed Royal Sovereign Light N60E. 0340. Altered course to N75E. 0412. Royal Sovereign Light abeam. Wind calm with mist. 0600. Sounded in 19 fathoms. 0615. Altered course to N65E. 0632. Sighted Dungeness Light N26E. 0655. Dungeness Light abeam at 8 cables. 0800.  Increased to 100 revolutions (10 knots) Wind NNW force 2 with fog. 0900. Altered course to N48E. 0930. South Foreland abeam. Altered course to N25E. 100o. Course as requisite for Sheerness. Hands employed cleaning ship throughout. Noon. Position. Proceeding up the Thames. Wind NE force 1 with broken cloud and fog. 1230. Stopped off Tongru (?) Light Vessel. Communicated by boat with SS RANGA who had been in collision with SS Glaswegian (Writing faint and slightly smudged) 1650. Secured to number 1 buoy at Sheerness. Banked fires. 1730. Quarters. Hands scrubbing and washing clothes. 1900. Drew fires in steam cutter. Coal expended 22 tons 7 cwt.  Number on sick list 4.
