Moored in Aden Harbour. Wind calm with broken cloud. Barometer 29.79 inches rising to 29.86 at 0800 before falling to 29.78 inches at 1600 where it finished at midnight. Temperature at noon 88F. 0200. Received 120 lbs of fresh beef and 60 lbs of fresh vegetables plus 180 lbs of soft bread.  0900. Read prayers. 1000. Hands employed painting between decks. Bending fore and aft sails and as requisite. Noon. South force 4. 1300. Gave special leave to port watch until 2200. Gave leave to both watches of Boys until 1900. Hands making and mending clothes. 1700. Quarters. Exercised boats away under sail. Able Seaman G Lynch returned from hospital.  2045. Exercised starboard watch at man and arm ship. Coal expended 4 cwt. Number on sick list 3.
