At single anchor in Muscat Cove.  Wind calm with broken cloud. Barometer 30.01 inches rising to 30.15 at noon and finishing at 30.02 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 82F. 0400. Received126 lbs of fresh beef and 65 lbs of vegetables plus 242 lbs of soft bread.  Draught forward 11 feet 8 inches. Aft 15 feet 6 inches. 0415. Coal lighters came alongside. Commenced coaling.  Noon. Coaling ship. Carried out quarterly creeping practice. (Dragging the bottom with a small grapnel) 1700. Finished coaling. Received 198 tons. Cleaning ship.  Draught forward 13 feet 9 inches. Aft 15 feet 8 inches. Coal expended 5 cwt. Number on sick list 4.
