Barometer 30.07 inches rising to 30.12 at 08oo before falling to 30.08 at 1600 and finishing at midnight at 30.07 inches. Temperature at noon 80F. 0200. Exercised seaboat’s crews. 06–. Altered course to S86W. 0900. Mustered by Divisions and read prayers. Exercised at General Quarters. 100. Employed cleaning out cutters and as required.. 1115. Sighted Aden ahead. Altered course to S74W. 1130. Connected steam steering gear. Noon. Position 12.42N 45.21E. Course S74W at 10.8 knots. Wind east force 2 to 3 with broken cloud. 1300. Paid monthly money to Ship’s company. 1337. Employed as required.1408. Stopped. 1445. Health Officer came on board. 1`515. Proceeded up harbour. 1525. Came to with sandy bottom In 3 fathoms. Made stern fast to Number one buoy. Moored ship. Let fires die out in number 2 and 3 boilers. 1600. Saluted Mexican Rear Admiral with 11 guns. Mexican Man-of-War returned with 7 guns.
