At moorings in Bombay harbour. Wind calm with broken cloud. Barometer 30.06 inches rising to 30.14 at noon before falling to 30.06 at 1600 and then finishing at midnight at 30.12 inches. Temperature at noon. 77F. 0400. Lit fires in steam cutter. 0545. Sent stokers training class torpedo boat. Received 120 lbs of fresh beef and 60 lbs of vegetables plus 200 lbs of bread. 0700. Aired bedding. 0800. Party in dockyard refitting tackles. Remainder scraping, painting and as requisite. 1030. Discharged one to hospital. Noon. Wind west force 1. General leave port watch and boys. Make and mend clothes. 1700 Quarters. Discharged one Able Seaman and one Ordinary Seaman to hospital. 1730. Discharged court martial prisoners to HMS Magdala.

HMS Magdala was a Cerberus-class breastwork monitor of the Royal Navy, built specifically to serve as a coastal defence ship for the harbour of Bombay in the late 1860s. She was ordered by the India Office for the Bombay Marine
