Barometer 30.02 inches falling to 30.01 at 0800 and then rising to 30.05 at n00n before falling to 29.97 at 1600 and then rising to 29.99 at 2000 before finishing at 30.02 inches at midnight. Temperature at noon 83F.  0200. Received 124 lbs of meat and 62 lbs of vegetables plus 196 lbs of bread.  0400. Exercised general quarters .0630. HMS Boadicea slipped. Lost overboard by accident – paint brushes. 0800. Wind NE force 2 with blue sky and haze. Ordinary Seamen and untrained men at drill firing cannon tube.  Remainder employed as requisite. Noon. Wind NW force 1.   Training class and acting Seamen Gunners firing cannon tube. Men issued with pistols for firing at target. Employed in getting in powder.  1700. HMS Marathon sailed.  Coal expended 7cwt. Number on sick list 8.
