Wind east force 2 to 3 with broken cloud.  Barometer 30.06 inches rising to 30.11 at 0800 and falling to 30.10 at noon and the rising to 30.14 at 1600 before falling back to 30.10 at 2000  and finishing at 30.12 inches at midnight.  Temperature at noon 78F.  0200. Exercised closing watertight doors. 0800. Wind east force 3. 0915. Divisions. Exercised at quarterly firing shot and shell at target. 1100. Picked up target and proceeded N20W at 85 revolutions. Noon. Position. 14.26S 56.65E. Course N20W at 85 revolutions at 7.8 knots.  1300. Wind east force 2 to 4. Paid monthly money. Tested lifebuoy. Found correct.  Employed as requisite. 1600. Wind east force 3. 1700. Quarters. Washed clothes. 2000. Wind east force 3.  2200. Exercised seaboat crew and closing watertight doors.  Coal expended 23 tons 1 cwt. Number on sick list 21.
